EXPERIENCE, DEDICATION, RESULTS

Prior to his employment with Conklin Benham, Paul worked on staff counsel for CIGNA as a trial attorney. He handled insurance defense cases including, but not limited to automobile liability, first-party no-fault, products, construction accidents, premises liability, negligence, dram shop, and workers’ compensation.

Mr. Abbo also served as the assistant vice president of the legal department for CIGNA. He managed the Legal Services Office and provided legal advice and services for claims offices located in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. He also performed audits of legal files handled by outside law firms, analyzed and adjusted billings, implemented adherence to company billing practices and procedures, provided analyses and opinions on coverage issues and certain major cases, gave presentations to claims professionals, and implemented directives from the Home Office Legal Department.

Paul’s experience also includes having served as an In-House instructor at Fireman’s Insurance Company and having worked as a private arbitrator on one and three-person panels.
