Education
Ms. Parker
graduated with distinction from the University of
Michigan, Dearborn and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in
Political Science. She obtained her Juris Doctorate
Degree from Wayne State University Law School in 1988.
While at Wayne State Law School, Ms. Parker was selected
to represent her school’s National Moot Court Team as a
Brief writer. Her Team’s brief won First Place in their
Region and they went on to the National Competition in
New York, New York. Ms. Parker also represented Wayne
State in an International Law Competition in her second
year of Law School as both a Brief writer and Oralist.
Professional Experience
Ms.
Parker has practiced as an attorney for over eighteen
years. Her practice has been primarily in the areas of
insurance defense with an
emphasis on workers'
compensation, representing both self-insured employers
and insurance carriers. She has previously served as
managing attorney for a large, national insurance
carrier. Ms. Parker has frequently lectured and given
seminars on workers'
compensation to employers, insurance claims'
personnel, and self-insured groups. She currently
serves as supervising partner of the Grand Rapids
office.
Affiliations
Ms.
Parker is a member of the Workers'
Compensation Section of the State Bar of Michigan and
the Grand Rapids Bar Association. She was active in
developing the Workers'
Compensation Section of the Grand Rapids Bar Association
and served as Chairperson in both 1998 and 2006. Ms.
Parker is currently in charge of the Committee of the
Grand Rapids Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation
Section responsible for hosting an annual Seminar for
West Michigan Attorneys.
Ms. Parker is
licensed to practice before both the United States
District Court Western and Eastern Districts, as well as
Michigan State Courts.
